Strama-MPS U.S. Inc. receives Bosch Regional Supplier Award

The American subsidiary of Straubing-based special machine manufacturer Strama-MPS Maschinenbau GmbH & Co. KG was awarded the Bosch Regional Supplier Award by Robert Bosch GmbH. Strama-MPS U.S. Inc. received the award in the category indirect material supply.

Strama-MPS was invited by Bosch to Chicago for the Bosch North America Regional Supplier Award Day. After some presentations about the latest activities, the invited suppliers could visit the plant in the city center. Afterwards, six companies gave insights into new technologies that Bosch considers important for the future.

n the evening, the award dinner took place at which Strama-MPS U.S. Inc. was awarded the prize. The proximity to the customer was rated particularly positively. With twelve locations in eight countries, Strama-MPS is always close to Bosch. Scott Pugh, Managing Director of the American subsidiary and Florian Simmel, Head of Engineering, accepted the Supplier Award. Robert Bosch GmbH honored a total of 18 suppliers in the categories direct material supply, indirect material supply, well-known suppliers and innovative suppliers.

Strama-MPS already founded an American subsidiary in Alabama in 2003. Since mid-2018, the location in Duncan (South Carolina) has been located in a rental building with approx. 3,000 m² of hall space.

In the USA, mechanical engineering is not as important as in Germany. Strama-MPS U.S. Inc. has successfully established itself on the American market by handling several major projects.

For a leading German automobile manufacturer with a location in the USA, Strama-MPS 2018 realized in cooperation with the American subsidiary a state-of-the-art battery pack assembly plant.

In almost 80 assembly steps, the batteries are assembled in manual and fully automatic stations and tested for function and safety in four test stations. American mechanics and electricians support the German colleagues on site in the USA with the assembly of the system and a programmer from U.S. Inc. helps with programming and commissioning. The programmer had already been in Straubing for several weeks before delivery to familiarize himself with the system.

With the American location, Strama-MPS is able to supply customers in the USA, such as ZF, BMW and Bosch, which gives them the market advantage: quality "made in Bavaria", professional engineering and reliable service.
