From Concept to Exhibit: A Project by Our Dual-Track Students

“The idea was clear: We wanted an exhibit that could be quickly and flexibly adapted to different target audiences.”

With this goal in mind, our dual-track students embarked on their project. Over an extended period, they worked intensively on the question of how complex industrial processes could be presented in a simple, clear, and at the same time flexible manner for various industries.

The starting point was a specific challenge in the showroom at FANUC in Wörth an der Donau: An existing exhibit was no longer functional and also no longer met the requirements of various target groups. This led to the task of creating a solution that could be flexibly adapted to different industries and use cases.

The dual-track students took on this task independently, developing a concept step by step, refining it, and ultimately bringing it to fruition. Over the course of several project phases—from the initial idea through planning to concrete implementation and optimization—they created an exhibit that was largely driven by their own efforts.

The result is a compact and versatile trade show exhibit in which 3D-printed models of representative process stations are moved toward a dummy component. Event-based video sequences are retrieved from a memory to visualize the respective process steps. The combination of physical movement and digital representation conveys complex processes in a clear and understandable way.

“The biggest challenge was to deliberately keep the solution simple—and not get lost in unnecessary complexity.”

Felix Kiefl

It was precisely this focus that shaped the entire project. The exhibit can be adapted to different applications with minimal effort, while hardware usage was deliberately kept to a minimum through the intelligent use of the same sensor technology.

The resulting exhibit is thus not only a technical solution but, above all, the result of intensive project work into which the dual-track students invested a great deal of initiative and dedication over an extended period—a result that is truly impressive.
